2018
wooden boards, transducer loudspeakers, four-channel sound composition
This sound installation was the artistic output of the two-week ‘Bee Time Residency’ in Santa Lucia, Spain. Tyler spent his time working closely with natural beekeepers, learning about the insects’ behaviour and most pressing issues. Extended recordings were collected of individual bee sounds, hive entrances, and vibrational recordings of the hive cells. The recordings have been minimally processed and composed into an orchestra of multiple beehives sounding together within a wooden ‘hive cell’. Visitors to the installation can place themselves directly in the middle of the cell, experiencing the four-channel audio from all directions.
